Hello Fish Fans, The last 3 weeks have been all over the place, the fishin has been good, bad and ugly and so has the weather. The beginning of the month the Sailfishin slowed down to a crawl, the next week after another nasty coldfront the Sailfishin was excellent catchin 2 or 3 every trip, this past week after the nastiest coldfront of the year the Sailfish disappeared again. The weather this week was as nice as it can get but the fishin was on the slow side, 1 or 2 boats out of 15 or 20 would stumble on to a lone Sailfish, half the fleet stumbled into a few Dolphin and the other half only ended up with a beautiful day on the water. There was one boat on the 16th that must have found the end of the rainbow, they caught and released a Blue Marlin about 180 pounds. One Blue Marlin is a great day nomatter where your fishin but less than an hour later they hooked-up another Blue Marlin, this time they caught and released a Blue Marlin estimated at over 300 pounds. The Cobia are movin in now and there were several caught this week in the 50 pound class, this will continue for the next 4 to 6 weeks. The Dolphin fishin will continue to improve for weeks to come, the schools are getting bigger and so are the fish. As springtime moves in so will the wahoo, beginning the end of February through the end of March the Wahoo fishin should be excellent, some of these Wahoo will be 50 to 60 pounds and will reach speeds of 50 to 60 mph. I’ll be back with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World around March 1st, I’ll let you know what’s hot and what’s not.
