Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart, Florida this past week continued to be a bit challenging but with calm seas, sunny skies and great company we had a great time and caught some Big Fish. We started off the week north of the Bahama Bank catching Blackfin Tuna and Yellowfin Tuna up to almost 50 pounds. The Blackfin Tuna are stacked up off the corner together with Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, Dolphin and Blue Marlin so if you’re looking for the fishing trip that’ll kick your but give me us a call and we’ll get’r’done. We spent a couple of days this week on the east side of the gulfstream looking for Big Dolphin and Blue Marlin. We didn’t get into a Blue Marlin this week but we did catch a few Dolphin and a Big Bull Dolphin about 30 pounds. While hunting the gulfstream waters this week we found everything we look for while searching for Dolphin from trees, logs, weedbeds and birds but most of them were only holding baitfish. As the last quarter moon approaches the Dolphin fishing will improve so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. Thursday we started off with a couple of 8 to 10 pound Dolphin and football size Blackfin Tuna 10 miles off the beach but after pushing out a bit deeper and only finding scattered weeds we decided to head closer to shore to catch a Sailfish. The Bonita were tearin’ us up in a 150′ of water which is fine for a little while but you can’t catch a Sailfish if you can’t keep baits in the water. We pushed out to 185′ with only 2 big lures in the water to escape the Bonita when the 50lb outfit started screamin’. My first thought was gimmie a break, we’ll never get away from these things but it kept running and it was obviously too big to be another Bonita. At 2 o’clock in the afternoon I expected a jump from a big Dolphin or Sailfish but it never came, it just stayed down deep shaking it’s head. It took about 20 minutes of constant preasure on the 50 lb outfit before we got a glimpse of the Monster Wahoo on the end of the line. He took off again as Wahoo like to do and the next time we saw him the hook had pulled from his mouth and was stuck in his side just behind his pectoral fin. This is the last thing you want to see when you have a monster fish hooked up, too much preasure and the hook pulls out and not enough pressure he never wears out. The next 15 to 20 minutes was torture as the Monster Wahoo wouldn’t give us the last 20′ of line while making big circles under the boat and away from the boat because he was hooked in the side. The anxiety that builds up during a fight like this costs most people the fish but with teamwork and experience I stuck him with the gaff, pulled him over the side and bellowed in relief, WAHOO…! The fished weighed in at 59.2 lbs which is a Monster Wahoo for the east coast of Florida. It was an experience the happy angler will re-visit everytime he looks at the Grey Taxidery Trophy Mount that will soon be hanging on his wall. The gulfstream waters are constantly changing and it would’ve been nice to have a little more action this week but everybody fishing aboard the Reel Busy this week caught a fish they’ll never forget and you could be next. Hundreds of Blackfin Tuna finally showed back up on the hill yesterday and they’re eager to play the game so if you’re looking for action and wanna tasty plate give us a call and we’ll hook you up. The conditions are great and the Reel Busy has open days this week so let’s get together and catch some fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart, Florida Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne Brodeur, Reel Busy Charters 772-341-6609
