Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart, Florida could’ve been better last week but we’re catching Sailfish and Dolphin and having a good time. The Summer Sailfish Run has begun and the Sailfishing throughout the Jupiter, Stuart and Jensen Beach area will be good to excellent for the next 4 to 6 weeks. As the Sailfish cruise back north for the summer months they don’t travel in huge packs like they do in the winter months but they’re plentiful and very aggressive. The summer bite is a hot bite and trolling a rigged ballyhoo is usually more productive than live bait fishing so pick up your speed and get those ballyhoo skipping and swimming. During the winter months Sailfish travel down the coast avoiding the northerly gulfstream currents while feeding on Herring, Sardines and Ballyhoo. During the summer months they’re  meandering north feeding on more Flying Fish than anything else so I like to use 6″ blue/white or black/purple concave head plugs on the short lines and naked ballyhoo on the riggers. They’re harder to hook on the lures but it reely pisses them off so when the ballyhoo rolls by they explode on it. This is a great combination for Dolphin as well and it’s dinner & dancin’ to a fish-head like me. The Dolphin fishing will continue to be good on most days and while we’re seeing more schooley dolphin there’s still 20 to 40 lb dolphin coming in. The weather forecast are seldom right this time of year because they cover to broad an area so fish with an experienced captain, it reely makes a difference. The young guns look to the weatherman but over decades of fishing I’ve found satellite images to be much more informative and accurate when you know what you’re looking at. The forecast the last few days was lots of rain and choppy seas and they couldn’t have been more wrong. We had 2 to 3 foot seas Thursday & Friday and less than a foot yesterday. We’ll continue to catch Sailfish and Dolphin throughout the summer months so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart, Florida Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne Brodeur, Reel Busy Charters 772-341-6609
