Welcome aboard the REEL BUSY and to our Stuart Florida Fishing Report. The seas have been a bit too sporty for some but we’re catching dolphin and a few sailfish. The seas should be settling down and we’ll be catching sailfish, dolphin, kingfish, tuna and wahoo this month and in May.
The dolphin bite continues to be good on most days and we’re coming home with 6 or 7 dolphin and letting a few peanut size dolphin go. The bigger slammer dolphin have yet to show up and are expected any day now. Mid April through May is prime time for the big ones and when they show up 15 to 25 pound dolphin are abundant. Most of the dolphin we’re catching are 7 to 10 pounds and we’ve had a few 15 to 20 pounders in the mix. We catch 25 to 45 pound dolphin every year this time of year and some over 50 pounds.
The sailfish are starting to show up as they did last spring and it looks like another good spring and summer bite for sailfish. The sailfish bite is a hot bite in the warmer waters of the spring and summer months. The sailfish fire in on the teasers and crash the baits much more aggressively than the winter bite. We’re only catching one or two right now but that’s always awesome bonus to a box full of dolphin and/or tuna.
The blackfin tuna bite off the coast of Stuart isn’t fired up yet but the Yellowfin Tuna bite north of the Bahama bank is going off. Now’s the time to get hooked up with a Yellowfin Tuna day trip or our Bahamas Fishing Adventure. Give us a call and let’s go catch’m.
