Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart Florida has never been better and they’re still coming. The slowest day we had this past week produced 4 Sailfish releases and the best day was 8. The tournament boats fish for numbers and not the fight, these boats are releasing 10 to 15 a day by chasing them down for release points. The Sailfish are moving around in packs so we’re catchin as many double and triple hook-ups as we are single hook-ups. Whether we’re live bait fishing or trolling swimming ballyhoo the transition from waiting and watching to the pandemonium of a multiple Sailfish hook-up is an experience you’ll never forget. Now’s the time to get on board the Reel Busy and catch a few Sailfish, you’ll be glad you did. The Dolphin fishing continues to be slower than normal but as the water warms up the Dolphin will get fired up again. There was a more Dolphin caught this week than there was last week and next week should be better than this one. The Wahoo are starting to show up and there were several fish in the 30 to 40 Lb range caught this past week. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean and Wahoo fishing is usually at it’s best off the coast of Stuart Florida in late winter and spring around the full moons. Kingfish are abundant right now between 75 & 100 feet of water for those of you that like those slimy things. hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing is still goin off up and down the waters off the coast of Stuart. The last cold front produced the coldest week we’ve seen in south Florida for almost 30 years and it absolutely shut down the Dolphin fishing but the Sailfishing is as good as it gets anywhere in the world. Catching 2 or 3 Sailfish is almost a no brainer right now and I expect to catch 3 to 5 every trip while hoping for 7 to 10. The tempertures are getting back to normal and there’s acres of Threadfin Herring and Spanish Sardines moving in which means the Cobia are on the way. The Cobia fishing is excellent in February and March when they stack up on the numerous wrecks off the coast of Stuart feeding on the Spanish Sardines that are beginning to arrive. Kingfish and Bonita have been abundant lately which is great for bending the rods but they can be a pain in the azz when targeting Sailfish. The waters are warming up and the Dolphin will start eating again as the water temperture gets back to the mid to upper 70’s. The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida will continue to be excellent and as we slowly trasition into springtime fishing over the next 4 to 6 weeks. The weeks to come will produce a great variety of fish and we’ll be catching Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia, Wahoo, Kingfish, Bonita and Tuna. Hello Fish Fans, I don’t ever remember a time when I was glad that I went a week without a fishing but this past week it hasn’t bothered me at all. I’m a fish-head and there’s nothing that I’d rather do but it’s too damn cold for this Florida Boy. Normally this time of year it’s about 50 degrees when we leave the dock and by 10am it’s in the upper 60’s but today it’s 32 degrees with a wind chill of 21 degrees and it’s not expected to get over 45 the whole day. There hasn’t been many boats out on the water but the ones that got out found the same great fishing that we had before the cold front. The heaviest concentration of Sailfish is still about 15 miles north of our inlet and there’s still plenty of Dolphin in-between the packs of Sailfish. The good news is we’ll start warming up and by mid-week the tempertures will be back to normal. The Yellowfin Tuna trips in March & April are starting to book so if you’re planning on getting in on the Yellowfin action again this year it’s time to start making arrangements. They’ll start showing up off the corner of the Bahama Bank mid to late February and by mid March Yellowfin Tuna 50 to 75 lbs will be teaming the waters off the Bahama Bank. Happy New Year Fish Fans ! We start out the new year with a cold front as brutal as I can remember in recent years. Evening tempertures in the low 30’s and highs in the upper 50’s for the next 3 days will have the Sailfish on the run for sure. The Sailfishing due east of Stuart has been fair to good but 15 to 20 miles north has been as good as it gets. The 1/2 day trips closer to the inlet produced a few Dolphin and at least one Sailfish on most of the trips. The full day trips to the north produced a few dolphin and 5 or more Sailfish on every trip. The Dolphin over the last week were smaller than we had been seeing but as the full moon begins to shade the dolphin fishing should be good to excellent once again. This cold front will get the Sailfish on the move and for the next few weeks the Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart will be as good as it gets anywhere in the world. There’s been 1 or 2 boats with 10 or more Sailfish releases everyday and if you want to catch’em now’s the time. Sailfishing is the main attraction this time of year but we’re catching plenty of Dolphin and Kingfish as well.
