Hello Fish Fans, I don’t ever remember a time when I was glad that I went a week without a fishing but this past week it hasn’t bothered me at all. I’m a fish-head and there’s nothing that I’d rather do but it’s too damn cold for this Florida Boy. Normally this time of year it’s about 50 degrees when we leave the dock and by 10am it’s in the upper 60’s but today it’s 32 degrees with a wind chill of 21 degrees and it’s not expected to get over 45 the whole day. There hasn’t been many boats out on the water but the ones that got out found the same great fishing that we had before the cold front. The heaviest concentration of Sailfish is still about 15 miles north of our inlet and there’s still plenty of Dolphin in-between the packs of Sailfish. The good news is we’ll start warming up and by mid-week the tempertures will be back to normal. The Yellowfin Tuna trips in March & April are starting to book so if you’re planning on getting in on the Yellowfin action again this year it’s time to start making arrangements. They’ll start showing up off the corner of the Bahama Bank mid to late February and by mid March Yellowfin Tuna 50 to 75 lbs will be teaming the waters off the Bahama Bank. The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart Florida should continue to be excellent for the next several weeks so give us a call and we’ll hook you up. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfsih Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Happy New Year Fish Fans ! We start out the new year with a cold front as brutal as I can remember in recent years. Evening tempertures in the low 30’s and highs in the upper 50’s for the next 3 days will have the Sailfish on the run for sure. The Sailfishing due east of Stuart has been fair to good but 15 to 20 miles north has been as good as it gets. The 1/2 day trips closer to the inlet produced a few Dolphin and at least one Sailfish on most of the trips. The full day trips to the north produced a few dolphin and 5 or more Sailfish on every trip. The Dolphin over the last week were smaller than we had been seeing but as the full moon begins to shade the dolphin fishing should be good to excellent once again. This cold front will get the Sailfish on the move and for the next few weeks the Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart will be as good as it gets anywhere in the world. There’s been 1 or 2 boats with 10 or more Sailfish releases everyday and if you want to catch’em now’s the time. Sailfishing is the main attraction this time of year but we’re catching plenty of Dolphin and Kingfish as well. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Merry Christmas Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart is as good as it gets right now with Dolphin, Sailfish and Kingfish providing the action. The Sailfishing has been fair to good due east of the St. Lucie Inlet but it’s been red hot about 15 miles north of the inlet. The Dolphin fishing has been good up to the north but it’s been red hot due east and to the south of the St. Lucie Inlet. You can take your pick and we’ll put you on them. The days we’ve been fishing the southern waters we’ve been catching 10 to 12 Dolphin up to 20 pounds but only a Sailfish or two. The days we’ve fished up to the north we’ve been catching 2 to 5 Sailfish and a few Dolphin. We’ve been fishing for Sailfish and Dolphin with mono leaders so most of the Kingfish that chew the baits cut us off but we’re getting lucky and still catching one or two kingfish on the typical day fishing. The sea conditions have been up and down but most days have been 2-4 and 3-5 foot seas which is perfect for a good days fishing. Give us a call if you’re ready to catch fish and we’ll hook you up. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne
Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish Bite is On off the coast of Stuart Florida right now and catching 4 or 5 in a day is not only possible but it’s probable. Packs of Sailfish are travelling south for the winter migration and I expect to hook-up 4 or 5 everyday and I leave the dock and on most days we catch’em. The Sailfishing is as good as it gets right now and the Dolphin fishing is excellent as well. If you’re visiting Stuart or the surrounding areas over the next couple of weeks give me a call and get hooked-up, you’ll be glad you did. We’re not the cheapest and don’t have a couch to take a nap but we’ll have a good time and catch Sailfish and Dolphin, you can count on it. I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report fron Stuart Florida, Sailfsih Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart this past week was good but not as good as it was before the front. There’s been plenty of Sailfish and Dolphin but they’ve been scattered about so there’s been a bit of quiet time between flurries of action. As the cold fronts push through the winds circle the compass and come from every direction pulling apart the weedlines and current edges making it a bit more of a challenge to get on the fish. One day the fish will be abundant in 240’-280’ of water and the next day they’ll be 80’-120’ of water. We got out a few days last week and caught some nice Dolphin and a couple of Sailfish but Saturday was the slowest than expected and it took all day to catch 5 or 6 small Dolphin. I guess I was do for a day like that and I was happy to see that they were ready to play the game on Sunday. The fishing will be good to excellent through the winter months but there’ll be days you’ll need to patiently wait for the pack of fish that wants to play the game. We’re catching Dolphin and/or Sailfish on every trip so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart this past week was good but not as hot as it has been the la/2 or 3 weeks. We still managed to catch 1 or 2 Sailfish on every trip but the Dolphin fishing slowed up a bit and we only managed to catch 1 or 2 on most of the trips and 4 on another. The fish are still here in numbers but the last front scattered both the flying fish and the weeds so the fish are scattered between 80 feet of water and 500 feet. The Sailfish are still moving through in packs so when you find them it can get red hot but we had to spend a little more time fishing to find them this past week. There’s still plenty of small Blackfin Tuna out on the hill which is unusual for this time of year but they’re smaller than what I’d like to be catching. The fishing may have been a little slower last week but the conditions were picture perfect making for a beautiful day on the water. The fishing will continue to be good to excellent so if your visiting Stuart or the surrounding areas give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Hello Fish Fans, There wasn’t much fishing goin on til the end of the week but when the seas settled down from nasty to sporty the Dolphin fishin was excellent just like it was last week. The seas are laying down and the Dolphin fishing should continue to be excellent so give us a call and Let’s go Catch’em ! Sailfish are migrating south in scatterred packs and we’re catchin at least one or two on every trip. We’ll have more days catching 3 to 5 Sailfish this time of year than 1 or 2 so if you want to catch’em now’s the time. It’s never a sure thing when you’re fishing and that’s why it’s not called catch’in but I’ve been fishing the gulfstream waters from Stuart to the Florida keys for over 30 years and the fishing is as good as it gets right now. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was Red Hot off the coast of Stuart Florida. The Dolphin are everywhere tearin up schools of flying fish all along the edge of the Gulfstream. Most of these Dolphin are heavy lifters and gaffers. Heavy lifters are Dolphin between 6 to 8 pounds, kinda small to gaff but kinda heavy to sling into the boat. The gaffers we’re catchin are 12 to 25 pounds right now and we’re catchin 7 to 10 per trip. The Sailfishing has turned on as well and packs of Sailfish are teamiing the waters off the coast of Stuart for their annual migration. Last weekend the Dophin were the main attraction and the Sailfishing was hit and miss but we did manage to catch one anyway. The best day this past week was Thursday and although the sea conditions were Sporty the fishing was as good as it gets anywhere in the world. We caught 3 out of the 4 Sailfish we hooked up and caught 11 Dolphin from 8 to 20 pounds. There’s a high pressure system moving into the area and the forcast is for 6 to 8 foot seas for most of next week so we probably won’t have a fishing report for you next week. The conditions get a little sporty when the winds kick up to 15 or 20 miles an hour with 4 to 6 foot seas but when it’s 20 to 30 miles an hour it’s hardly fishable. I don’t expect the sea conditions to improve til next weekend but I hope they do cause the fishing is great right now and it drives me nuts to be stuck at the dock. I’ll be back as soon as I get out with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart is excellent this time of year but there will be days when we’re reminded why it’s called fishing and not catching. Last Saturday was one of those days and the one Sailfish that we caught was the smallest one I think I’ve caught in over 30 years of catching them. Most of the Sailfish that we catch are 5 to 7 feet long ranging from 35 to 65 pounds but this one was less than 3 feet long and couldn’t have weighed more than 10 pounds. We had two more that ate the bait but when they’re that small you gotta be lucky to catch’em. The Little Ones don’t travel alone so you know mom & pop were there watching the little ones feed. The Sailfish migration is in full swing and with the mild tempertures we’re having the Sailfish will be hanging around the waters off the coast of Stuart. Sailfish and Dolphin will be providing the action for the next few months and the fishing off the coast of Stuart is as good as it gets anywhere up or down the east coast of Florida. Give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
Hello Fish Fans, The first cold front moved into the Stuart area this weekend and the morning lows went from 74 degrees on Satuday morning to 53 drgrees on Sunday. Last Wednesday before the front we headed to the corner off the Bahama Bank to beat up on the Blackfin Tuna which is usually as close to a sure thing as any fishing trip could be. I’m not sure if it had anything to do with the approaching cold front but there was nobody home so we headed back to the Stuart area and beat up small to tiny Blackfin Tuna. The fishing was on the slow side Thursday so we spent the 1/2 day beating up on the small to tiny Blackfins hoping to catch a few dolphin but they never showed up. The Sailfishing had been good for several weeks but with west winds in the forcast for Friday we postponed the trip till Saturday in hopes of a better Sailfish bite with northwest winds. The Sailfish bite was fair but we caught 1 out of the 2 we hooked up and spent most of the day catchin 10 to 15 pound Dolphin with a couple of kingfish in the mix. The conditions were a bit choppy on Saturday but Sunday after the cold front passed through it picked up to what I like to call sporty. The best part about Sporty conditions is most of the boats get to the inlet and turn arround leaving all those fish for those of us that have boats designed to handle the seas. The Sailfishing was slower than I expected but 10 to 20 pound dolphin were everywhere feeding on the acres of flying fish along the edge of the reef in 80 to 100 feet of water. The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida will be good to excellent for the next 3 to 4 months with Sailfish and Dolphin providing most of the action. These cold fronts pushing down from the north will kick the Sailfish migration into high gear and packs of Sailfish will begin showing up here in Stuart and hanging arround. Small Packs of Dolphin will be joining in the Sailfish migration and most of these Dolphin will be 10 to 20 pounds. There will be some schools of smaller Dolphin but most of the Dolphin will be over 5 pounds this time of year. The fishing is good and this will continue so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
