Hello Fish Fans, The bad news is the Dolphin fishin has slowed to crawl this past week with a little bit of scattered weed but no reel weedlines for the Dolphin to travel on. The Dolphin are probably stacked up on the backside of the Gulfstream but you don’t know till you go and it’s an additional 200.00 a day so if your set on catchin Dolphin I would recommend the Tuna trip and catch’em on the way back. The good news is there’s plenty of action just a few miles off the coast. The Sailfishin was red hot this week from 50 to 100 feet of water and I expect this to continue for the week or two. I’m not sure but if I had to guess I would say the Sailfish are spawning off the coast of Stuart right now. They’re all over the place cutting up the surface of the water and when you hook up a Sailfish you may see one or two swimming around him but not eating. The Sailfish are so aggressive right now that even using short wire leaders for Kingfish doesn’t seem to bother them too much. The Sailfishing right now is almost as good as the winter months, catching 2 or 3 is can be expected and 4 or 5 is a reel possibility. The biggest problem right now is keeping your baits in the water long enough for a Sailfish to find them due to the abundance of Bonita. Most of these fish are 10 to 15 pounds and when a pack moves in on you all the rods go off with reels screaming. The Bonita puts on a great fight but the only thing there good for other than that is bait, Bonita strips are as good as a live bait for catchin Dolphin. The Kingfisin has been good with a few 30 to 40 pounders showing up in between the Sailfish and Bonita. The Wahoo fishin has been excellent and some of these fish are 50 to 60 pounds but you’ll need to get out early. The Wahoo bite will turn on at sunrise and last for an hour or two and then it’s over. Give us a call or your favorite charter boat and get in on the action, you’ll be glad you did. The Dolphin fishin has slowed down for now but everything else has turned on, Let’s Go Fishin ! I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home
