Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the Coast of Stuart ,Florida has been Hot & Cold over the last week or so. The Dolphin fishing should be excellent right now and some days it has been but some days they’ve been non-existant. We fished all over the gulfstream on Saturday and never saw a keeper Dolphin. We caught a handfull of Blackfin Tuna and Big Bonita off Push Button Hill but the Dolphin were a no show. On a 1/2 day trip Sunday we caught 10 dolphin up to 12 Lbs and a couple of Tuna and a few 15 Lb Bonita. We never went beyond 12 miles and caught fish everywhere between 150′ & 350′ feet of water. I was looking forward to another good day of Dolphin fishing on Monday but the west winds moved in and the Dolphin fishing turned off. The highlight of the day on Monday was an 8′ shark chewing on an 18 lb Bonita all the way to the boat. The plan was to take the Bonita head off the mono rig and put it on a wire rig but when the head came out of the water the shark dissapeared beneath the water. The boat was still in gear so the wahoo plug we were trolling was just wiggling along and the shark was so fired up it pounced on the lure and the reel started screaming. We got the fish to the boat after about a 1/2 hour and I was determined to get my Wahoo Plug back. As I held the leader contemplating how I was going to get that $40.00 plug back, I decided that every single one of my fingers was worth more than $40.00 so I let him keep it. The wind will be swinging back around tomorrow and I’m hoping we’ll find the Dolphin to be more cooperative than they have been the last couple of days. There’s been packs of Big Dolphin off the corner of the Bahama Bank and we’ll be going out there this week looking for Yellowfin Tuna, I’ll let you know how it goes in the next report. The Dolphin coming around the corner of the Bahama Bank will be heading our way as they travel to the west feeding there way across the gulfstream. The boats fishing near the beach this past week have been catching Kingfish, Cobia and Bluefish. The Sailfishing has been slow but there on there way back north for the summer and the Sailfishing could be excellent in the coming weeks. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters
