Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart, Florida was excellent last week on the days we got out but Thursday & Friday were the only fishable days. The sea were 7 to 10, close together and all chopped up early in the week and 10 to 15′ over the weekend. Thursday was still a bit choppy but most of the bigger waves were swells and it got nicer throughout the day. We caught 6 Dolphin and a few Bonita but the highlight of the day was a 45lb Smoker Kingfish. The Smoker King hit like a frieght train and line started screamin off the reel, you gotta love it. At first I thought it was an oversized Bonita because it never jumped and with a 60lb mono leader it surely couldn’t be a Kingfish or Wahoo, right. We primarily fish circle hooks this time of year because there’s so many Sailfish around and it worked to perfection on this Smoker King. The hook was buried in the King’s jaw keeping the razor sharp teeth away from the mono leader. Friday was absolutly picture perfect with rolling swells and excellent fishing. We fished a 1/2 day for Dolphin and caught 9 Dolphin, 4 Bonita and a few small Tuna. Just to the south of us the Sailfish bite was on and most of the boats I talked to had at least 3 to 5 shots at Sailfish. One boat had 6, anothe had 4 and several released 2 or 3. Sailfish and Dolphin are the main attraction off the coast of Stuart right now and fishing will continue to be excellent. The sea conditions will be improving again later in the week but it doesn’t look like there’ll be any fishing going on for a couple more days. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart, Florida Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-341-6609
