Hello Fishfans, Spring is moving in and that means a wide variety of fish to choose from. The Sailfishing this past week was day to day, one day you’ll catch 4 or 5 and the next day you’ll be lucky to catch 1 or 2. The bait schools are thick off the coast of Stuart and as long as the bait stays piled up like this the Sailfishing will continue to be good. The Dolphin fishing has been good and over the next 4 to 6 weeks it will get better and better. The past couple of fronts have stalled out bringing westerly winds for days at a time but as spring moves in the winds will stabilize to the east/southeast. The east/southeast winds will allow the weedlines to start forming up and when they do the Dolphin fishing will be excellent for the weeks and months to come. The Cobia are starting to move in cruising around the Reefs under the Turtles and Rays. Dolphin up to 25 pounds and Cobia up to 37 pounds were caught this week and bigger ones are on the way. The bottom fishing has been improving and Grouper up to 25 pounds are being caught on a regular basis. Light tackle fishing for Spaniash Makerel has been excellent providing lots of action from the St. Lucie Inlet to Pecks Lake. Most of these fish are in the 3 to 5 pound class but 7 to 10 pounders are consistantly showing up. The fishing overall this past week was excellent excluding Saturday when they seemed to get lockjaw as a fast moving front was sliding through. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Cobia, Tuna and Blue Marlin, We catch’em all!
