Hello Fish Fans, The last cold front of the season was passin through at the time of my last report and the wind continued to blow at 25 to 30mph until the morning of the 14/the wind layed down and the fishin got red hot. The Sailfishin had slowed down to a crawl but all that changed on the 14/most boats had 1 or 2, 1 boat had 4, everybody caught Dolphin up to 30 pounds, you gotta love it! The Sailfishin has been good over the last week and with a little bit of luck this will continue through the end of the month. The Dolphin fishin is reely startin to heat up, calm seas with mild breezes and tempertures in the 80’s, you gotta love it! Spring and early summer is when most of the Big Bull Dolphin will be caught along the southeast coast of Florida, some of these Dolphin will be 40 to 50 pounds, 2 years ago the Reel Busy caught a 60 pounder, that was a monster. The most important thing to remember when planning a fishin trip for Dolphin is to avoid the full moon if possible, the days surrounding the full moon will be the slowest days of the month. The Dolphin is the fastest growin fish in the ocean with a lifespan of less than 5 years, all they do is travel and eat. During the full moon they can feed at will in the moonlight, they’re not as hungry and they won’t be as aggressive. The Cobia are still hangin around the wrecks, turtles and rays all along the coast of Stuart, most of these fish are 20 to 30 pounds but 40 and 50 pounders are being caught on a regular basis . The Kingfish are here but most of them are snakes, less than 20 pounds. Springtime is also an excellent time for Yellowfin Tuna 50 to 75 miles off the coast of Stuart, most of these fish are 35 to 75 pounds but some will go well over 100. Although this trip commands a premium price due to the price of fuel these days, it’s a trip you’ll never forget and it’s not that far on the Reel Busy cruisin at 40mph. We don’t always find the Tuna, sometimes we have to settle for Dolphin, Wahoo or Blue Marlin. We’ll be headin way out there this weekend and I’ll let you know how we did in my next report. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. This is a great time to kill some fish for the freezer, Let’s Go Fishin!Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell
