Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart, Florida continues to be good to excellent on the Reel Busy but Monday’s 1/2 day trip was pitifully slow. Maybe it was just a slow day, maybe it’s just coincidence, but maybe bananas really are bad luck on a fishing trip. I don’t pay much attention to superstitions but the years have made me a believer, No Bananas Please. The Tuna fishing on the hill continues to be good and we’re catching a few more Dolphin as well. The Blackfin Tuna on the hill have been a bit smaller and most of them are 4 to 6 pound footballs but it’s a great way to start the day and put some fish in the box. The Dolphin fishing is starting to pick back up and it’s not all peanuts and schooleys. You may need to cover some water but there’s alot of current edges and the weeds are starting to come together along the edges. We made it out to the corner on Thurday and despite having to dodge a few storms we had a great day. The Tuna fishing is as good as it gets with 10 to 20lb Blackfin Tuna and 30 to 80 lb Yellowfin Tuna bustin’ it up all over the corner between 60 & 75 miles out. It’s less than a 2 hour ride on the Reel Busy and worth every minute of it. We had a great time catching Blackfins & Yellowfins but the highlight of the day was a Big Blue Marlin. The Blue Marlin fishing always picks up around the full moons this time of year and there tearin’ up the Tuna. It was an awesome bite as it exploded on the lure and took to the air throwing water in every direction. It took about an hour to get it to the boat for release and was 9 to 10 feet long and an estimated 22o to 240lbs. Blue Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna are sitting off the corner just waiting to play the game so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. Although there’s alot more Blue Marlin on the other side of the gulfstream any where you find a heavy concentration of Tuna or Dolphin there’s a good chance there’s Blue Marlin in the neighborhood. Yesterday on the way out to the hill to catch a few Tuna there’s was a current edge that I couldn’t resist. Trolling a 6 line spread of small, medium and large lures we had a 50lb outfit start screamin’. It started running back to the boat like a Wahoo does when a huge Bottlenose Dolphin began jumping in the air 60 yards back heading for the boat. The presumed Wahoo began screamin’ off line and the Dolphin pounced on him and finished him off with the second explosion of water. I’ve seen them eat Mackerel on the beach, Bonita along the reef but never a Wahoo in 240′ of water. We continued out to the hill and caught 9 Blackfin Tuna and a 12lb Dolphin before we saw a Big Blue Marlin busting up the Tuna just 10 miles off the beach. We never got a chance to get out the big stuff and hooked up another Balckfin Tuna. The Big Blue Marlin came charging in and ate the Tuna almost spooling a 30lb outfit before we got the boat on a plane and turned around. The hook pulled out shortly afterwards and we got back a crushed tuna. He tried to eat it twice after the hook pulled but there just wasn’t enough hook sticking out of the Tuna’s nose to hook’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart, Florida Sailfish Capital of the World. Sailfish, Tuna, Blue Marlin, Swordfish, dolphin and Wahoo are all available this time of year so give me a call and let’s go catch’em.  Catch more fish with Reel Busy Charters, Experience makes a difference !
