Hello Fish Fans and welcome to our Stuart Florida Fishing Report. The fishing’s been great the last couple of weeks but the catching’s been pitifully slow. We should be catching 3 to 5 sailfish everyday right now but we’ve been lucky to catch one or two. The lack of cold fronts over the last few weeks slowed the sailfish migration to a crawl. The dolphin /mahi mahi mahi have also been hit and miss.
The good news is there’s thousands of sailfish still north of us and there coming south. In the Pelican Sailfish Tournament last week there was 969 sailfish caught and released in 3 days. The tournament is held out of Ft. Pierce and the fleet found the mother load of sailfish off the coast of Melbourne. The top 3 boats had 73, 66 and 58 releases. It’s hard to imagine a sailfish tournament that you could catch 43 sailfish in 3 days and not even make the top ten.
Back to back to back cold fronts the next ten days will get these sailfish on the move. The sailfish bite should be red hot by the end of the month and Id expect a good dolphin bite in the mix. The sailfish bite looks to be red hot this February so get hooked up with Reel Busy Charters and catch a few.
I’ll be back reel soon with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne Brodeur, Reel Busy Charters 772-341-6609
