Hello Fish Fans and welcome aboard the REEL BUSY. November delivered a good mahi and kingfish bite with a few sailfish in the mix. The cold fronts are starting to push through now and the sailfish bite should get fired up this month. On most days we’re catching 3 to 5 mahi, a sailfish or two with kingfish and bonito in the mix.
As winter rolls in so will the sailfish. The sailfish have begun their annual migration and packs of sailfish are travelling down the coast. Some days they’ll be scattered about and we’ll only catch one or two but often times we’ll catch 3 to 5 sailfish this time of year. Timing is everything but there’ll be days that multiple boats will have double digit sailfish releases during the winter months.
Mahi mahi, also known as dorado or dolphin are also pushing through and will continue to do so throughout the winter months. Most of the mahi are 7 to 12 pounds this time of year with a few scattered about of 15 to 25 pounds. On most days we’re catching 3 to 5 and there’ll be days with 7 to 10.
The kingfish or King Mackerel are showing up on the reefs and wrecks off the coast of Stuart. Most of the kingfish are 7 to 12 pounds with a few 20 to 30 pound kings scattered about. Although there not as tasty as a mahi mahi there oily base makes them a great choice for the smoker.
It’s a great time of year for Stuart Florida Sport Fishing so get hooked up with Reel Busy Charters. Call or text Capt. Wayne Brodeur at 772-341-6609.
