Hello Fish Fans and welcome to our Stuart florida Fishing Report. The fronts keep coming and the offshore bite slowed to a crawl last week. The wind and seas scattered the bait, the weeds and the fish. Hopefully the cold front going through today will be the last one of the year and we can get into springtime fishing.
We started the week catching some dolphin. A mix of peanuts, lifters and a couple of gaffers. The next day we only caught one dolphin with a tuna, a kingfish and a sailfish. We then went four days without catching a dolphin. The sailfish, dolphin, kingfish and tuna all went on vacation or got lock jaw.
We had an excellent deep water snapper bite for a couple of days but when the current started screaming along at 3.5 to 4 knots that game was over. On our last trip after hunting for sailfish, dolphin, kingfish and wahoo we decided to do some bottom fishing to bend the rods and catch some dinner. The good news is we slammed the snappers, the bad news is they were all genuine red snappers and we had to released what would have made an excellent dinner.
April and May are my favorite two months of the year for Stuart Florida fishing. We’ll be catching big dolphin, sailfish, tuna, kingfish and wahoo on the edge of the gulfstream. We’ll be catching snapper, grouper, amberjack and cobia on the reefs and wrecks. To get hooked up with Reel Busy Charters Call Capt. Wayne Brodeur 772-341-6609 www.reelbusycharters.com
