Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida has been slower than usual for this time of year but we’ve been catching fish. The Dolphin fishing slowed to a crawl and although there’s been some big Dolphin caught we’ve not been catching the numbers we usually do. We’ve had a couple of days with a dozen or more but too many days with only a few. The Tuna fishing on the hill just 10 miles off the beach has been consistently good so when the Dolphin fishing’s slow we’ve been beating up the Blackfin Tuna. Most of the Tuna on the hill have been footballs in the 4 to 8 pound class but we’ve had a couple pushing 10 to 12 pounds. We’ve been catching a few Dolphin and Sailfish while Tuna fishing on the hill and Blue Marlin and Wahoo are always a possibility on the hill. There’s been a lot of Sailfish around the last couple of weeks from Jupiter to Stuart in 100 to 200 feet of water. It’s a bit early for the summer sailfish run but there’s been nothing normal about the fishing or weather conditions this year so we shouldn’t be too surprised. After postponing a 3 day trip to West End, Bahamas twice because of weather conditions we finally got over there on Sunday. It started out as a picture perfect trip. We had a nice cruise over, checked in with customs and checked into Blue Marlin Cove about noon. We decided to head towards Great Isaac for afternoon bite looking for Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna and Dolphin. We found 6 different packs of birds all of which produced Skipjack Tuna but no Yellowfins or Blackfins. We decided to head back to the hotel and get cleaned up, have dinner and rest up for an early start in the morning. It was a great day on the water but we returned to find out we had no water for showers, toilets that didn’t flush and an AC that didn’t work. The new owners apparently don’t subscribe to the same level of excellence that the previous owners did and that was very disappointing. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-341-6609
