Hello Fish Fans, The winter migration is underway and more dolphin and sailfish push through with every passing cold front. We’ve been catching some nice dolphin of 10-15 pounds, kingfish up to 20 pounds and sailfish and tuna in the mix.
The dolphin / mahi-mahi that meandered north in the summer months as peanuts are now 10-12 pounds are coming back down the coast. The dolphin is the fastest growing fish in the ocean doubling in size every 90 days during their first year. We catch’m up to about 30 pounds this time of year but most will be small gaffers of 8-12 pounds.
The sailfish bites been on the slow side due to the lack of cold fronts. The fronts are starting to push through again and the packs of sailfish 50-75 miles north of us will start arriving over the next week or two.
The full moon this month should deliver another good wahoo bite like we had in December.
Kingfish and bonita have been providing plenty of action along the reef from Jupiter to Ft. Pierce.
There’s been some big blackfin tuna of 15-25 pounds pushing through. We don’t catch as many this time of year as we do during the spring but they’re all big ones.
Now’s the time to book your Yellowfin Tuna trips and Bahamas Fishing Adventures for May,June and July.
